Are potatoes OK for acid reflux?

Usually well tolerated

Boiled, baked or mashed potatoes are usually well tolerated. Chips, crisps and roast potatoes cooked in lots of fat are a different story.

Tips

  • Mash with a little milk and olive oil rather than lots of butter.

Is it a trigger for you?

Reactions vary a lot between people. Log potatoes in the symptom diary for two weeks: it shows how often each food is followed by symptoms. Then try two weeks without it and compare.
