Is tea bad for acid reflux?

Depends on the person

Black tea contains less caffeine than coffee. Most people with reflux tolerate it, but strong tea or many cups a day can bother some.

Tips

  • Weaker tea and fewer cups are usually fine.
  • Avoid strong tea on an empty stomach.

Try instead

Rooibos or chamomile tea

Is it a trigger for you?

Reactions vary a lot between people. Log black tea in the symptom diary for two weeks: it shows how often each food is followed by symptoms. Then try two weeks without it and compare.
