Are beans OK for acid reflux?

Usually well tolerated

Beans and lentils are low in fat and high in fibre. They can cause wind and bloating in some people, but are rarely a direct reflux trigger.

Tips

  • Start with small portions if they make you bloated.

Is it a trigger for you?

Reactions vary a lot between people. Log beans and lentils in the symptom diary for two weeks: it shows how often each food is followed by symptoms. Then try two weeks without it and compare.
